Requesting ARIC Data

External Investigators need an ARIC approved manuscript or ancillary study to request ARIC data from the ARIC Data Coordinating Center. Once approval is received, a completed ‘Data and Materials Distribution Agreement’ (DMDA) is necessary (see form and instructions below). When the DMDA is fully executed, complete the ‘Data Request Form’ (see below). Upon completing both documents, please submit your data request to the Coordinating Center using the REDCap ARIC Data Use Registration form and upload the ‘DMDA’ and ‘Data Request Form’ when prompted. A fee will be charged for the preparation of the dataset (see the ‘Fees for Non-Contract Work’ document below). Note: ARIC data can also be accessed via BioLINCC free of charge and without the need for the ARIC Study approval. There may be some differences in the data available from BioLINCC, such as the removal of extreme values and the omission of restricted data. One such omitted set of data is CMS-linked data, due to more restrictive data-sharing permissions.

Internal ARIC investigators who are appointed as a pSITE or a Hub PI are granted access to ARIC data via the secure download area of the website. A list of ARIC pSITES and Hubs is provided below. If additional data is needed beyond what is provided via the secure ARIC website, please submit a data request to the Coordinating Center using the REDCap REDCap ARIC Data Use Registration form. Please make sure you have a completed DMDA and Data Request Form before submitting the request to REDCap.
