Obtaining Access to Available Data
Investigators must execute a Data Materials and Distribution Agreement (DMDA) (download approved contract template below) with The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, via the GIC, prior to accessing data, images, and/or biospecimens. All access is managed by the GIC. Access is not available nor warranted through study investigators.
Once a DMDA is executed, investigators must request a website user account. Click on the Create a New Account button here. Some data access requires a Data Access Request Form (download form below) submission via email attachment outlining the data, images, and/or biospecimens requested with intended use detailed. Some data access requires an approved abstract, manuscript, and/or ancillary study proposal.
A current list of readily available datasets and the Data Access Policy are available for download from the table below.
Proposing an Abstract or Manuscript
All abstract and manuscript proposals require approval of the Publications Committee. Proposals must be submitted to the GIC via the Manuscript and Ancillary Study Tracking (MAST) system via CDART. Authors must submit the proposal prior to writing the abstract or manuscript. If approved, the final manuscript draft (once reviewed by all co-authors) must be submitted to MAST and reviewed and approved by the Publications Committee prior to journal submission.
A list of all approved abstract and manuscript proposals is maintained and available on the Policies and Forms page. A complete reference list of all published manuscripts is maintained and available on the Policies and Forms page. The Publications and Presentations Policy can be found here.
NOTE: Additional information on the Publications page is available to users who login. To request a user account, click on the Create a New Account button here.
Proposing an Ancillary Study
All ancillary study proposals require review and approval of the Ancillary Study Committee. Proposals must be submitted to the GIC via the Manuscript and Ancillary Study Tracking (MAST) system via CDART. All proposals are reviewed by the Ancillary Studies Committee, Steering Committee, and NHLBI. Depending on the level of participant burden, Observational and Safety Monitoring Board (OSMB) review may also be required. The Ancillary Studies Policies and Procedures can be found here.
